Fine Art Photographer Michael Bergman began his spiritual journey traveling to India to capture the sacred symbols of Buddhism, Hinduism, and other ancient spiritual practices.
He produced this body of work using a film-based Hasselblad and custom printed these images on archival photographic paper and is now offering it to followers of these practices and enthusiasts of Indian art and antiquity.
Bergman was struck by the beauty of even mundane subjects while in
India photographing billboards, signs, clotheslines and transforms those
subjects using his hand painting on film method.
He continued his spiritual quest in China, and back home in the
United States, photographing spiritually resonant scenes and then
manipulating his film with beautiful color washes.
